Absolutely disgusting, they should be ashamed of themselves, not allowing me to own at least a couple of these.

        ZL-1 Camaro Memories

Back in '69 (yikes, that was 31 years ago!) as a young production engineer from Detroit, I supervised the build of the 50 ZL-1 Camaros at the (now closed) Van Nuys, California Chevrolet assembly plant. Built them all in one batch, spent the whole time following the incredible aluminum engines down the engine dress line making sure no air tools were used on any of the fasteners - each fastener that was driven into the aluminum block or heads was treated to a smear of anti-seize and was torqued by hand to ensure none were cross-threaded; took a kit of Heli-Coils with me just in case, but never had to use one. The roll-testers at the end of the line LOVED THEM!! Ahh, the good old days......John

If memory serves me correct the 1969 white ZL-1 Corvette was at Bloomington around 1980. I remember seeing it,also have pictures of the car there with a spare ZL-1 complete engine on a motor stand on display. Does any one remember who owned it then??
