    rocker panels 70-72

    what is the best way to the old coating off of the rocker panels? the anodized on the aluminum. sand it off? are can you use some kind of striper to take it off? thanks

    Lyndon,
    If You are going to restore them don't do anything ..Let the plater strip them and re-anodize them.
    I had mine stripped By buffing them out. I then took them to the anodizer who said he would not re-anodize them now because the buffing process impregnated little bits of anodize into the aluminum and they would have to sit too long in the tank to get them all out. The best laid plans..........

    If however you dont plan to reanodize them than a good buffing will sure make them look great , at least for awhile !

      What plater did you use that had a tank long enough for a rocker molding? I need to have a set done but havent' seen anyone that will/can do it.

          You might be our new best friend.

          I'd guess 4 feet long, but my cars are not here to measure.
          Anyone able to check?

                I dont remember since I didn't get them done. It was an anodizing plant in Tempe Az. I will try to get a name for your tomorrow.
