    C2 (63) exhaust pipe hanger

The exhaust pipes are supported in the center by a hanger that attaches to the rear motor (transmission) mount. The AIM shows a clearance spec for the pipe passing through the cross member. This dimension would seem to be fixed by the length of the hanger straps, as there are no slots to adjust the strap lengths and thereby adjust the clearance of the pipes. With no adjustment available, do you just call it good as long as the pipes are not touching the crossmember?

The only other support is a hanger strap at the rear end of the muffler. I know it works, but it seems to a rather loosey-goosey setup.

You are correct, likely the reason it was changed for '64 to a more solid setup

      Bill

Is the 63 center exhaust hanger painted black or plated? I am going to install new rubber in mine but I am not sure the best way to peen the rivets.
