C2 Front Bumpers

Dear members,

I just put newly rechromed bumpers back on friend's 66. The right/passenger bumper sits about 1/4" to 1/3" lower than left. I measured at the inner headlight door gap to bumper. I got two fingers at the left and about three on the right. Is there enough adjustment to make up for this? When I loosely bolted things up, I had to get the two longest bolts on each side where the bumper slides into brackets first. Does this make sense? Thanks Much!

I installed the front bumpers on my '65 a couple of weeks ago. Just checked and found that I have a litte less than two fingers at the places you measured.

Now that you have the bumpers on, I think I would loosen ALL the bolts so that you can move each bumperette around some. Be careful with the bolts that secure the bumper to the fender. You don't want any body damage.

Move each bumper around until you get them equal and uniform. There is a page in the AIM that gives specifications. It states that front bumpers should be within 1/4 inch of parallel to front peak line and within 3/8 inch of rear bumpers.

Tighten bolts and check results as you go. Good luck.
