    62 Seat separator lock

I am looking for help in removing the seat separator lock. I am sure it is simple but so far I have missed the method.

    Thanks

If you look on the glovebox side of the door, you will see a small hole in the top of the lock body. With the key inserted in the lock to pull the locking wafers back, insert a paper clip or very small screwdriver in the hole to depress the retaining wafer. Once depressed, the lock cylinder should pull right out. Then you will notice that the bezel is octagonal shaped inside. I usually just take a very large screwdriver, chisel, or similar tool, and jam it in the hole and unscrew the bezel. Unfortunately, the lock cylinder can be installed upside-down and if it is so installed, you will not be able to depress the retaining wafer. If this is the case, you will just have to try and grab the outside of the bezel with some pliers and wrench it off. Pay close attention when reinstalling the lock to assure that the retaining wafer is installed in the 12 o'clock position.

Re: 62 Seat separator lock-door locked shut!!

Yes, but how do you get it out if the box is closed, locked and the key will not turn the tumblers?? I had mine "fixed" by a locksmith years ago and now it will not unlock/open again.

Carefully push it to the side (the entire door)--the tang on the lock sits behind a round headed chrome screw. It's not to hard to get it to bypass that screw and to open up. Don't ask how I know that.
