    C3 Rear Suspension

My composite rear leaf spring has a split in it. Should I replace it with another composite, or go back to a metal leaf spring ? Is there any difference in ride quality, or any advantage to either ??? Could use any advise you can offer, Thank You.

Because the fiberglass spring reacts differently than the steel, the shocks also need to be tuned to operate with the type of spring.

If you have shocks for a fiberglass spring, then they will act differently with the steel and should be changed.

However, since most people do not realize this, they are probably standard shocks for the standard steel spring.

The fiberglass spring usually rides nicer. It is lighter, and it reacts faster to movement. They can feel bouncy if you do not have the right shocks.

Judging wise, you need the steel unless you have an '81 or '82.

      Vince:

Since your C3 is a desireable 1970 convertible, my suggestion is to get a Eaton replacement spring, probably as close to original style as can be found.
