Check out ebay 4554253612. Not only are the words "matching numbers" being redefined every day, but so is the word "survivor." It's time for another contest--how many things can you find wrong with this survivor? (In addition to the CE motor?)
I find:
Interesting paint and mount point for generator brace
wrong generator
wrong water pump
right ex. manifold has casting slag ground off--it's a GM replacement
"original" 340 intake is painted orange
left valve cover has casting flaw
interesting air cleaner application
rubber fuel line feeding into the wrong spot on the carb for it to be original
a 340 that's non-posi?
rocker moldings have no attaching bolts on bottom
carpet doesn't match carpet on doors
seats don't have original dip--they're recovered
cherry bomb mufflers
entire underbody painted
creative transmission mount
jack is 53=61
back window on soft top is stitched
has original chrome headlight bezels!!!!
kick panel has speaker mounted
missing radio bezels
340 with vacuum advance
antenna base is incorrect
no jacking instructions on tire board
Looks to me like spare is probably 14"
back side of kick panel windlace looks like it started life fawn beige
front motor mount and clutch inspection cover are painted black
heater hoses are red
Kinda makes you wonder about the description on the rest of the car "undamaged, etc." doesn't it?
It looks to me like it's a survivor--it has survived (and still exists to this day) in spite of some misguided owners/restorers over the years.
What else can you find wrong with it?
