    72 Job Number Question

On the tranny tunnel under the carpet which I removed today, as well as on the part of the birdcage behind the seats on my 72 LT1 the job number 394 is visiable. However, in the area behind the storage bins/battery box on the flat surface, the number 437 is clearly visible.

It looks all original and all the carpet looks like it had not been removed before. They all had the original padding and there were tags on all the carpet from J. P. Stevens, 2/xx/72. The car is a March build.

I'm gonna be pulling the tank as the build sheet is there and will also check the number forward of the tank. But why would there be two different job numbers, if that's what they are?

    Thanks

    Re: 72 Job Number Question

The rear compartment floor is the only place you'll see the "437"...437 = Coupe. The "437" is apparently a carryover from the way they marked prevous years when the VIN number format was 19(437)XSXXXXXX. In 72, they changed the VIN format to 1Z37K2S500000, but I guess they still marked them 437...old habits die hard.
