I just purchased a finned balancer (Part #173) out of the Driveline from another NCRS member. When I received the item, I was a little surprised. The balancer units that I am used to seeing for 1965 cars have only three holes in them....the three bolt holes for the balancer pulley (not counting the drilled holes for balancing). When I opened the box, the balancer I bought had three additional holes, one each near the bolt holes for the pulley and these holes do not appear to be tapped. Additionally, there is a hole between each fin on the back and the hole goes completely through the balancer to the front. Since the date on the pulley is K66, it would appear that this is a 1967 SpHiPer pulley. Does anyone know if there was a design change in finned balancers at some point where all these additional holes were added, or have I purchased a paper weight?
