ID Differential 2A01 22 68W

Unfortunately not the original differential for my car ('69), but based on '69 codes would be a non-HD (small-block), posi 3.70, made Jan 22,1968 in Warren.

The first "2" (division? should be "1"?) is puzzling, and I'm not sure if '68 used the same codes as '69. Also, it is behind a 427, and has the u-joint straps with bolts on both end caps.

Any help will be appreciated.

'69 differential: There's a twist...

My POP shows I should have AW0422W differential (3.08 heavy duty posi, THM, made April 22, 1969 in Warren), not the diff described above.

Here's the twist...didn't the strike start April 10, 1969? Would differential production in Warren have been affected?

Hmmm. It is behind a 427. (torque?) It is in a 36 year old car. It is in a car that when new, people drove them like they stole them. Corvette 10 bolt rears were quite weak, never designed for drag racing, and yet many did just that with them.

The '68 rear end fits.

Let's just say the possiblity that someone changed it way back whenever, especially when no one gave diddly about numbers, and today you find their work.
