Storage compartment carpet

I have received a new set of carpet bits for my 1965 convertible storage compartment. One very small piece was included (2 inches x 10 inches).
Paragon was not quite sure where this little piece should go.
Does anyone have any information on this?

The only things I can think of would be the small piece of carpet in the storage compartment. There is a picture in Noland's book but I don't know what page. Also, I have a small piece of carpet on either side of the decklid spring brackets. Although, 2x10 doesn't sound the right size. I doubt Paragon is the manufacturer, so I would contact the actual manufacturer and see what they say.

Here's a guess...

From Noland Adams' Vol 2 book:

"At the start of 1965 production, a small piece of foam-backed carpet was slipped under the jack and glued in place to the underbody. Its use was likely to quiet rattles in the jack stowage area. Although the carpet used was often similar to that used in the interior of the car, it also varied. Black was the most common color, no matter what the interior color. Sometimes one or more edge is bound, like the edges of a large piece of household carpet. Apparently the pieces were cut by hand, for no two were identical.

The carpet insert was dropped in early January 1965 production, about hte serial number 106000 (6000) was built...."
