Some of these cars look like they may be from the Otis Chandler (LA Times) collection. Does anyone know for sure if the white 69 ZL-1 is the same car that is/was part of the Chandler collection. Chandler's car is reported to be one of the two "original" ZL-1 cars. The other, of course, is owned by Roger Judski of Roger's Corvettes in Orlando, FL.

Re: RE: Incredible Private Vette Collection
The only DOCUMENTED original ZL1 corvette is the yellow one owned by Roger. If there is a quote, second ZL1 it has not turned up yet. If there was one, it's vin number would have to be after the yellow original ZL1, because it was the first 69 ZL1 that came off of the plant floor.- Top

ZL1 History
Is there somewhere on the web or elsewhere that has the story on the ZL1s? I recently saw a book on American musclecars which had a white with blue striping ZL1 in it. It said the car was purchased by somebody in Salt Lake City (?). It didn't say where the car was today. When did the second ZL1 surface? I was only aware of the one having been found until today. Is there somewhere that has the full (and correct) story about the ZL1s?- Top

Re: ZL1 History
It's been in "the literature" since I've been in the hobby (1988) that two ZL-1 Corvettes were built. Two ZL-1's surface periodically in various articles and books - a yellow one and a white one. I believe that one is better documented than the other, though I don't know which has the better "pedigree". The yellow one is the one that seems to stay more in the public eye. It's amazing what a drug bust in your past can do to draw public attention to you.
Maybe Joe "building a ZL-1 motor" Lucia can give us better information about the ZL-1 Vettes.

Re: ZL1 History
I remember 2 being built. When I dropped out of Vetttes around 1980, only one had been found. It was a ground up rebuild. The engine was found in a drag boat or something and the rest of the car was scrap yard material. I think this was the yellow one. I appreciate all info and comments.- Top

Re: ZL1 History
Gentlemen, Like I wrote before I was at the Bloomington Meet around 1979-1980 and saw (have picture to prove it) a chassis on display of a 1969 ZL-1 that a company calling it self D A Corvette had there. don't know if it's the same company out of Chio-town area. I believe this one to be the white one!!!! Also I have seen the yellow one in person.- Top
