    C2 Hardtop

Hi guys. What deduction would I take for a missing hardtop? The JG wasn't much help.

The original decklid on my 65 has the hardtop setup, but the hardtop is long gone. I really don't care to acquire a replacement due to cost and storage. I've also considered just replacing the decklid with a non-hardtop variety. Any other advice?

    Thanks!

    Don,

-------Im under the impression that you can show your car with either top with no deduction for whichever one is not there. You dont have to advance the notion to anyone that you dont have a HT if you dont want to. A future owner may want to have a HT to present the car as it was delivered so I would leave the HT holes, but thats just me as I love HTs.
-------Am I right about this, guys? I sure have seen a lot of cars judged with convertable tops over the years that had HT holes present, including my own many years ago..........Bill S

It's the owner's choice to show a 2-top car either as a convertible or with the hardtop installed. If the car has the convertible top hardware on the deck lid and is shown with the hardtop in place, the folded convertible top must also be present. If the hardtop hardware is on the deck lid and the car is shown as a convertible, it's judged only as a convertible. Just leave the hardtop at home and present it for judging as a convertible.

        Re: C2 Hardtop - Addendum

My response above applies to presentation of the car for Flight Judging; P.V. is different - 2-top cars must be presented with both tops for P.V., as the hardtop must be removed, convertible top operation verified, and the hardtop re-installed.

          Re: C2 Hardtop - Addendum

Thanks as always John and Bill. That is very good news. I would prefer not to buy and store a hardtop, and I would like to get it flight judged if I ever finish this project. A little surprising that there isn't a deduction though. It really wouldn't be "as delivered" without the hardtop.

          Thanks!

            Re: C2 Hardtop Option C07

            Don,
I think the answer to your question can be found in the Corvette Black Book. The Auxiliary Hardtop (for roadsters) was an option (RPO# C07) for $236.75.

Therefore, it would have been possible for an individual to order a convertible and not order a hardtop for it.

            Regards,
            Gene

              Re: C2 Hardtop Option C07

              Gene,

You are correct. However, if a car was ordered without the C07 option, then it would not have the holes in the decklid specifically for mounting the hardtop. My original decklid has the holes so it was originally delivered with a hardtop, which is long gone.
