I swapped the engine in my 66 Coupe. Now I have the original engine on a stand and it will be kept in an unheated garage subjected to below freezing temps in the winter. What preparation should I do to this engine for long term storage?

Re: Storing an original engine out of the car.
Drain the old oil and fill with new oil and filter.
Drain all coolant out of it.
Take the carb off, spray some thin oil down the intake, and tape the intake closed. Drain the gas from the carb and store it.
Pull each valve cover off and back the rockers off the springs to close each valve. Roll the engine on its side, pour thin oil in each cylinder through the spark plug hole. Grease or anti-seize four plugs and install them. Spray some WD40 or other lubricant in each exhaust port at the valve. Tape the exhaust ports closed if the manifold is off, plug or tape the exhaust manifold if on.
Roll the engine over and do the other side.
Once every engine over quarter way at a time every few months to circulate the oil. Be sure oil fillers and dip stick is plugged if you go upside down.
smear some grease across the stamp pad.- Top
