I'm installing a gas tank in a 1965. I need help with the positioning of the tank. Everything is still loose, I can move the tank from side to side, but not front to rear.In its' current position the neck of the tank is to far forward.I need to get the tank moved toward the rear of the car.
I used the original straps, the repro's from Quanta appear to be shorter.I'm frustrated, so any help would be very much appreciated. thanks, Lou
sounds like you may have the filler neck fastened to the top of the tank and if so it needs removed to facilitate tank positioning, then re-attach neck to tank once tank in position.its a tight fit even without the filler neck attached but it'll go assuming there is no prior frame/body damage/repair. good luck, mike
Compare the bend on the perimeter flange of your old tank to the new one. You may just need to bend this flange down some more to allow the tank to move aft.
