Re: that is why i buy new ones
I can relate to that. Had 65,67,69 all Top Flight and Bloomington Gold. Love the big blocks and always will. Just trying something different for a while. Like you mentioned, it's nice to stay out from under the hood for a change!! Although......already thinking about some upgrades...Corsa exhaust with the Tiger Shark tips!!! I'll never grow up....................!- Top

Re: My first C-5
I've had a few C-3s, and now have a 7,000 mile '71 for show. Was going to buy a "driver" '62, which would have run about $50K for a good one. Decided to get a used, 7,000 mile '02 Z06 for $35K with full 3 year warranty. Yes, the '62 would have transported me back to the '60s, but in terms of fun, the Z06 cannot be touched by any year, any engine Corvette, IMHO ('til the 05 gets here).
If any of you old codgers has not driven a modern Z06, you oughta try it. But I will caution- driving one can be habit-forming and cause massive accumulation of dust on neglected vintage Corvettes.- Top

Re: My first C-5
Not likely! I have an '02, a fun car, way to civilized. My '71 with its big rat block gives me goosebumps when fired up! To hear the clickity clak solid lifters, loping idle, POWER ROAR from the unsilenced air cleaner, loud exhaust tone eminating from the rear, and the raw power unleashed from stomping on the accelerator and wildly uncontrollable rear end pitching side to side and the nose raising up, as if trying to lift the front end off the ground. Ahhh...the musclecar era, I miss it.- Top

Re: My first C-5
Thanks, Dave- Without hidden headlights, it could have 5,000 HP and I won't have it. Have you driven a C5 Z06? Don't know what I could do with another 100 HP on New Jersey roads.- Top
