    C2 - 66 Wiper Blade Holders

My 66 is a December 65 build date car and I have the flat top brushed stainless steel holders that are correct for 65. The name Trico is written on one end. The third Edition of the JM indicated that this is correct for 65 and early 66. Mid to late 66 wiper holders have a peaked top. I consider my car to be an early 66 build.

Now the Fourth Edition of the JM states that the flat top is correct for the 65 and the peaked top for the 66. There is no mention of the transition dates. The Noland Adams mid year resto guide book states the same as the fourth edition of the JM. Since there had to be a transition from the 65 parts to the 66 I hope I have a defendable position with the judges who might only see the latest (fourth edition) ruling on this? I remember seeing a few posts on this subject in the archives.

    Comments are welcome.

    Regards,

Keith, my September (1649) built car has flat top polished holders with Trico on them, the arms are brushed. I' fairly certain these are original, the rubber is correct. The car has 29,000 miles.

      David,

I believe the 4th edition JG is incorrect. In fact, I'm sure of it. It was actually closer to being accurate in it's 3rd edition. The 65 blade would have been a polished flat back design and the first design change for 66 would have been basically the same as 65 but with a satin/brushed finish. There were a few variations of this first design blade for 66 with subtle differences. In later 66 production, the peaked, or "tent back" design would be correct.

I have several examples of the correct flat back dull blade, both NOS and used, and also much documentation of original untouched cars going back to the mid 70's.

Hopefully, the knowledge level and experience of the judges will prevail and they will look beyond the JG.
