Sorry if that title sounds like an ad, this isn't an ad. BUT- I'm excited, since I've been harassing the poor ladies who answer the phone at Al Knoch for about 14 months now, and the mat that I placed an order for this March arrived today. It fits perfectly, the cutouts for the drains are centered right on the hoses. The color looks pretty good to my (utterly inexperienced) eye. Whattya all think (besides the fact that the inner fenderwells are WAY too shiny) ?
Finally- Red 61-62 trunk mats!

Re: Finally- Red 61-62 trunk mats!
Rob, I went to the MCRS meet a couple weeks ago and one guy had the original mat in his car and it was pretty ripped up and fragile. I thought mine was original but it was in perfect shape. Took the time to read the JGM and lo and behold I have embossed part numbers instead of stamped. So I think I have a GM NOS part.
Long story but do these meet the guidelines? How much?
Thanks, Chris- Top

Re: Texture of backside of mat (NM)
It's great that they finally are available!!!! At the same time, that mat will certainly lose points in judging. The "US" and the "60" are not nearly crisp enough. The texture on the back of the mat is better than the perfectly smooth ones that were available a few years ago, but certainly different than the originals.
Also--does anyone else have an original red one in their possession? On mine (rock hard) the 3783835 is stamped in black ink, not white. ( I took that out of a car in 1975--by then, already, the GM replacment mats were correct in every way except the part number was molded in rather than stamped like the originals)- Top

Re: Texture of backside of mat (NM)
Mike, which do you think will be better for points? The new repro or the gm replacement(which I have in perfect condition)?
I would think that a call from you to Al Knoch would get them to use black ink?
Thanks, Chris- Top
