Early '70 LT1 Hood Stripes & Decal

I have noticed on some cars the 1/4 inch striping is only on the front section and others the 1/4 inch striping carries thru on all 3 sides.Is the latter the later '70?

The point of reference for the LT1 decal location is? I know it is centered between the upper inner and the lower inner,but front to back of the hood what is the correct dimension?The AIM is not clear.The JG appears to show centering the "T" with the chrome hood eyebrow.

The drawings in the TIM&JG are not intended to show the details you are questioning. DO NOT use them as an example of the decal or stripe location. They are intended only to show the differences in stripe width between the early and late stripe set, and to highlight the stripe alignment and perforations of original stripes. Infer nothing else from those drawings.

I also have noticed differences in the early '70 stripes.
The Assembly Manual appears to show the wide stripe at the front and continuing along both sides. However it's unclear how they join at the rear.

The after market stripe kits for the '70 (early) only have the 1/4" on the front, then tapering to a 1/8" at the "turn", and continuing to the rear similar to the late '70 - '72 stripes.

If someone with an original early '70 LT-1 could help with this, it would be good to see what really is factory correct.

The AIM does show the correct placement of the "LT-1" decal.

The AIM does provide some measurements for the stripe location.
I was not aware the when GM applied the stripes, that it was not an "exact science", and each vehicle could be unique.

One of the 1971 Corvette News issues had a story about the improved exterior finish of the 1971 model year, and several photos showed the LT1 hood stripe (that would have been the later design) being installed.

The major feature of the later design was that it was a three piece mask (early design was four piece). Thus there was only two places where the operator had to align the mask for the later design. No doubt a time and labor savings, not to mention a more accurate installation.
