Today i was driving my 58 fi car to go to a show. It has 132 miles since resto. tank, sender, pump filter, etc new. It suddenly stopped running. checked hi pressure pump cable ok. checked filter to fi unit no gas. and would not pump gas when engine turned over out pump to filter line. . checked tank to pump line, no gas. checked pick up looks ok and blew air thur ok. ( has gas in tank). question if the fuel pump went bad would the high pressure pump drain the entire fuel line to the tank, but not be able to pick gas up from the tank? any thoughts on whats wrong? i am assuming the fuel pump is bad but it is new (#4445) so not readly available here in town. did all 58 fi have the fuel filter like the 57 ?

Re: 58 fi car won't start
This may be a question that you have already checked out but is the Vented Gas Cap working properly? If you have a suction lock on the tank due to no venting the car will die. I am not sure if it will have gas in the line or not if this happens.- Top
