Friend of mine wants to part with his 59 Vette. The car is very original but needs total restoration (sitting in garage for 30 yrs). Looks like the car is an old fulie car(not sure). Engine pad is stamped III22D, block casting says 3756519. Car is a 4-speed, has wonderbar, washers, aluminum raditor, clutch fan, hard & softops. Car also looks very straight. can someone tell me if this engine is original. Missing is FI unit and manifold or carburators, grill, and wheel covers. Any help would be appricated.

Re: Value of 59 Vette
Scott,
I know of a widow with a 59 for sale.
Engine is 60 truck 283.
Rough paint
rough chrome/trim
rough interior
missing VIN tag
Asking $40K for a $15K car.
Take some time and look at the car very closely.
Unless you can verify it is something special ( FI car, 270 HP... ), it is not worth a great deal. It costs a great deal to restore an "old car" into an NCRS top flight Corvette.

Re: Value of 59 Vette
Regardless of the current engine, if the car is an original fuelie there will likely be tell tales of the FI installation. Start by looking at the left inner fender for a nut plate to mount the FI air cleaner. If that is present, the windshield washer, if so equipped, should be on the right near the battery. If all this checks out, post back and we can discuss some of the finer details.- Top

Re: Value of 59 Vette
Ed,
I dont remember seeing any mounting brackets on the Drivers fender well, I'll have to look again. The car does have a high horse tach, Large groment in lower center of firewall for distributer tach drive, Aluminun radiator. Left air hose outlet is open at radiator support. Funny thing pro-team looked at car and offered him 17,500.00 for it...All body panels look good and straight looks like a no hit car..But still needs a total restoration.- Top
