    Mike Hunt

Pictured is Mike Hunt in the white shirt talking with me at the Bloomington Special Collection.

This hobby of ours would not be what it is today without the dedication and research done by people like Mike Hunt.

His RPO 56/57 research project over many years logged in important information that serves the hobby today.

I don't know if he is in the Corvette Museum Hall of Fame..but he should be!

    Thank you Mike.

I thought "Mike Hunt" was a fictional character...

20 some odd years ago I worked in auto sales. At the dealership I worked for there was this practical joker, Andy, (also a top sales person) who'd disquise his voice and call into the switchboard. He would tell the phone receptionist, a lovely Hispanic girl who had a slight accent, that his friend was there at the dealership shopping and ask her if she could page him for an important phone call. She'd say certainly and ask, 'what's his name?'. 'Mike Hunt' was the answer and then we'd all laugh when she'd come across on the PA, askiing for 'Mike Hunt'. Andy used this ploy successfully on several occasions, and substituted a few other beauties as well. I will leave those to your imagination.

      Joe,
I have corresponded with Mike several times and once purchased some of his reports on 1957. He successfully helped me trace part of my history on my 1957 which led me to the guy that took it from the wrecking yard back to health. The last time I corresponded with Mike he said his data based was destroyed in a computer crash. Did he say if he ever got the database restored?

Mike's always been a bit eccentric, but highly dedicated to the hobby, not for his own benefit, but for the love of the cars. A true long-time pillar of the hobby. I remember getting letters from him, and he'd begin "it's 41 degrees here in the basement as I type this...." Quite a character!

Mike Hunt also told me that his computer crashed some years ago..but I believe he still has hard copies of his research. I think he also shared his files with another person or two..with equally strong sentiments of Corvette history.

Owning the Nassau/Daytona car has led me to about 5 individuals that have what I would describe as the deinitive archives on 55/56/57...Corvettes. Each of these individuals are overloaded with character.

The people around this hobby are really interesting..the deeper you get into it!

Eb Rose for example drove as a contract driver for Ed Cole. Eb Rose raced boats, cars, airplanes, was an avid hunter and fisherman, a Texas Ranger, business man, married a Texas beauty Queen, grew up on the ranch next to the Foyt family..yes..that Foyt family...etc, etc..

Next time your at a show..pay close attention to the next guy that comes up to talk to you..you never know who that person might be!

Wasn't the Mike Hunt prank also pulled in Caddyshack? Or was it Fast Times at Ridgemont High?

What about the prank on The Simpsons where Mo the bartender got a phone call to page Amanda Hugg, so Mo yells out "Amanda Hugg,I need Amanda Hugg"?
