I've fooled with these old cars for 39 years but never paid a lot of attention to the finer points of the center bearing fit/tolerance. While under a recent purchase checking it out, I noticed what I thought was excessive up movement of the center steering arm. Today I replaced with a a new bearing. Everything seemed to fit as described and was torqued as stated in ST-12. Guess what? It has just as much movement with the new bearing as the old. What should one expect in terms of movement of the linkage?
