1969 Corvette - Covertible

I am new to this message board so hopefully I am doing this the correct way. I have a few questions. I have owned my corvette for 30 years and want to have it painted. I live in central NJ. Who can I have painted? And should I return it to the original color. It is white now but I believe it started life as a blue car. Also I need some mechanical work done. Who works on corvettes in NJ?

Rob English is the name, and he does excellent work. Also great to work with. Is an NCRS member who does mostly Corvettes. In business for 20 plus years. He is always booked, so don't expect a fast turnaround.

I have no information regarding paint/mechanical shops in NJ since I live about 3,000 miles from there. However, your local NCRS chapter might be a good place to find out about shops that local folks have had good experiences with.

As far the color goes, if you're going to have it painted, I think that I'd definitely return it to the original color as described on the trim tag. Unless, of course, that's a color you really hate. In that case, it's your call. However, I don't think that there were really any 1969 colors that were bad, and certainly not the blue.

I would suggest you do some research and make some decisions before you do anything to the car. There is a trim tag on the drivers door pillar which will give the codes for exterior and interior colors. That should take the guess work out of it. Once you know what the original configuration of the car is go to some NCRS meetings and some regional meets and see what the car will look like in its original configuration. A great place to check out cars is Corvettes at Carlisle in Carlisle, Pa. which is out near Harrisburg,Pa. and is held in August. You will see thousands of Corvettes at this event and will see almost every color combination and trim level. This website is for the National Corvette Restorers Society so the sentiment here is going to lean toward restoring to original. The bottom line is it is your car and you need to be happy with it.
