Hah!
Good luck, amigo. First, the casting date is placed in a recess that's impossible to view once the bellhousing is installed and the tranny assembled. Second, this is a one-year only pretty rare part....
Bellhousing was used on Corvette and Chevy 409. The two groups 'fight' over these parts and it's tough to say who's got the deeper wallet and/or concours seriousness to open their wallet! When you find one (try NCRS Driveline, E-Bay, swap meets, Hemmings, Etc.), and you will, be prepared to fork out $250-500 for the part.....
Not trying to put you down (I had to shop one two years back and learned the lesson) -- just want to be helpful, educate, and orient you as to what you're up against....- Top

Re: looking for 1960 bellhousing
Louie, use of clutch fork boot tain't addressed by '58-60 Judging Guide (good note to National Team Leader because book's in update phase) but '61-62 JG positively states no boot was used. Also, '60 AIM does NOT show the installation of a boot where it calls out the insertion of the clutch fork. My pea brain concludes, boot wasn't used in '60.... But, to be certain, we gotta go to a higher authority!- Top
