67 Jack Finish - What is painted and what is not?

I am restoring my origianl 67 jack. I had it stripped of paint didn't take photo's of it prior to thinking I would remember what it would look like. Once stripped I realized that my brain is not as good at remembering details as I had initially thought (old mans disease setting in). What should be painted the glossy black and what should not and of those nots what finish should they be. For instance the 2 washers that sandwich the nylon spacer?? Please help as I am on my way to the national in 2 weeks and I am in the garage with rattle cans in hand.

    Thanks,
    Jace Holt

    Jace,

Entire jack is painted gloss black with the exception of the threaded part of the screw shaft and the three washers. Metal washers have a silver finish. Appears to the their natural color. The nylon washer is natural.

      Jace,

You are in luck tonight my friend. The jack and 1/2 of the screw (nut end) was dipped in gloss black. Then the jack was assembled with the two washers separated by the nylon bearing with the small cold roll pin. Put a small amount of grease (you choose) on the threads and you are ready for judging.
Jack and 1/2 of screw is gloss black. Two washers are cad plated. Nylon bearing is natural. Cold roll pin is natural.

You might want to check in "The Restorer" for an article on jacks written some time ago by a famous author. Can't remember his name.

      Regards,

      JR
