    C2 Interior color enhancment

    Gentlemen:
My 1965 Coupe door panels(bright blue)have faded a little. Not unusual for a forty year old car. The panels are in very good condition otherwise. Is there a product that can be applied that will bring back the color and luster? Hemmings has several vendors that claim to have products that make some big claims, but I do not want to end up ruining my panels.
    Any guidance would be appreciated.

    Dwight,

I did quite a few pieces on my 67 coupe to match the new leather seatcovers which are brighter than old ones. I have found Sem to be the best for interior paint. White was too bright, so I had to use super white to match other pieces. My painter uses it also, and swears by all their products.

We did a full resto on a 69 280sl Mercedes a few years ago and used the Camel color on some faded armrests. Not only was it a dead-on match, but the stuff is bullet proof and doesn't rub off or peel. Check with them about proper prepping of surface before you color. Good luck!

      Paul,

There are interior dyes sold in quart cans by some suppliers. I purchased some from ZIP several years ago and it was ready to use right from the can. I did some small pieces with an airbrush and some larger ones with a detail gun. The color looked good and had the right gloss in my opinion.

        Dwight,
I like Tower Paints, Oshkosh, WI. (800-779-6520). They mix-up a top quality rattle can with interior colors & have all the codes. For door panels & soft parts, they have a 'thin' laquer that is very well behaved. You will have to use the appropriate prep products first, of course, to remove any traces of silicone, Pledge, or whatever.
