    C2:67 3810 Zoom, Zoom, Zoom

Well, I thought I'd give you guys a little update on my 3810 project.

Yesterday, I took off the Holley Double Pumper(4776) which I had put on in 1976, and adjusted up the 3810. Yes, I put it on in 1976, how time flys when you're having fun. Had a little deja-vu. Didn't realze how much larger the double pumper is then the 3810, here's a shot of them side by side.

So today I figured it was time to put the 3810 on to see if it will run. I figured on putting it on temporary, if it didn't work right, I'd put the double pumper back on. I'm planning on taking it off anyway, to repaint the top of the engine, redo the gas line with a stock line, and replace the valve covers with cherried out original steel covers. Will also plug the heat slot in the manifold at that time.

So here it is on the car.

How do you like that temporary fuel line. I found that 5/16" brake line tubing fits the moraine inlet, so I bought a short piece ($2.50 at Napa), cut off one end and bent it to fit the fuel hose where the double pumper was connected.

Well, it started right up, I adjusted it up and it idles about 750. Took a short run and it works better then the double pumper, almost feels like when it was brand new. Runs a little hot at idle, but cools down to 180 when you cruise. I think I've got the idle mixture a little too lean.

And the best thing, my 3810 date code (751) is first week of May 67, for my June, 29 1967 convertible. Although not the same one, I think I've got my original carb back.

    Having fun!

Here's what mine looked like to begin with

Got it on ebay. Same choke pull off, and I plated every original screw and parts except the jury-rigged manual choke.

Re: C2:67 3810 Zoom, I take it back!

After a very nice run yesterday, although a little too hot at idle, I thought I'd adjust the idle mixture tonight. It started up, but then the secondary side, started driping gas into the air horn. Tried to tap the secondary bowl, and I noticed gas coming out of the top vent on the secondary side. Shut it down as I didn't want to burn the garage down.

I've seen this problem in other recent posts. What was the resolution?

Jerry, I had a similar problem with my original 3810. What I found was the secondary metering plate was warped letting gas leak by the gasket into the venturis. You can try double-gasketing the plate, it worked for me for quite awhile. The correct cure is to replace the plate with a known true (flat/level) one. Also, check the carb body for warpage where the plate screws into. I believe overtightening the clutch-head screws is what warps the plate.Hope this helps.
