    C-2 Cooling Fan

I would like to add a auxillary cooling fan to my '66 A/C small block. I can't run the A/C in traffice without overheating the engine. I've heard that pullers are better then pushers and space is very limited.
Any suggestions on models that will fit?
    Thanks
    Dave

    Dave -

    What type/configuration/age is the radiator?

      John,
The sticker on top says "Harrison Aluminum".
It sits on about a 70 degree slant. As far as I know, it's the original '66 equipment. Its an automatic / A/C car and there is another small cooler mounted between the radiator and the grill near the bottom. I thought if I could find a real slim electric fan, I could mount it at the top half of the radiator between it and the grill.
I guess the another question is will it keep the engine from heating up?
      Thanks for your help.
      Dave

Dave - chances are your radiator is plugged and overheating...that's what mine is doing. I have a DeWitts replacement ready to go in...they will fix your cooling issues without resorting to extra fans etc....Craig

Dave - I have to agree with Craig and that there appears to be some problem that needs to be addressed first before you start resorting to the modifications you're looking to do. Plus the modifications might not end up being the solution if the radiator is starting to clog up or it won't be the long term solution. These cars should cool with the "original" configured equipment . I have a small block '67 w/ C60 and original equipment still and it still cools OK (knock on wood). But like Craig I have a new radiator ready because I know at 35+ years it's served well and probably longer then it was expected to. Pete

Dave the smaller radiator in front of your radiator is the powerglide transmission fluid radiator for reducing the temp of the transmission fluid. A quick check of your vacuum advance is recommended. Your 66 is full time vacuum advance. If your vacuum advance is inoperative, this will contribute to overheating the engine at idle and slow speeds in traffic. Also the wrong vacuum advance unit that someone could of replaced could also contribute to the heating problem.
