The current Z06 may soon be losing its #1 status to the car known to insiders as the "Blue Devil", which will have the Z06's 7.0L V8 fitted with a supercharger.
The result would be a power output in the vicinity of 600HP and an awesome power-to weight ratio. GM is intending to compete with the likes of Ferrari and Lamborghini with this "Corvette from hell" and the car will be marked up in price accordingly. For more info see www.speedtv.com.

The engine sounds like a slightly detuned version of the one installed in Jay Leno's 1966 Toronado. His restorer used a special, "one off" Chevrolet 427 (7.0 liter) smallblock. The engine was touted, on the one hour show, as producing 1000 HP, but this may have been "exaggerated". The show was aired on The Discovery Channel about 2 weeks ago. In addition, 2 - C6 chassis' were chopped and married to form the undercarriage of the beast. The car must have cost Jay close to a half million to have built.
