    63 Firewall Grommets

The firewall grommets on my 63 were removed when the body was painted a couple of months ago and I am in the process of putting it all back together. The grommets (Tach, Oil, Speedo, Hood Cable) were removed and unfortuntately I no longer have them.

I ordered what was suppose to be the grommets from a well known and very personable vendor ;-) but they did not fit what they were suppose to. The oil and tach grommets were also suppose to have metal pull-back tabs on them but did not.

I know where they go, I just need help in getting grommets that fit properly. Could someone help out with what they look like, # of holes, part numbers or vendors?

    Thanks

      Re: 63 Firewall Grommets

      Doc,

Thanks for the info. I went rummaging today and found where I put the speedo and tach cables I removed 2 years ago. They still had the grommets on them and they were in good shape so I am reusing them. I also found pics I took a long time ago and was able to blow them up to see where most things went.

I have one of your grommets for the oil line (fits perfectly ;-) and also have one that I picked up that has the two holes in it. I am not positive, but think the oil line is the only thing that goes through that grommet/hole. The wiper motor wires come directly from the engine harness if I recall. I could be wrong though. Have to look at it some more and have a new harness to put in next week before I drop the engine back in.

And yes, that was me at LimeRock. I picked up the 72 LT1 a few months ago. Actually ordered some goodies from your staff today for it along with my 63. As always, they were helpful and pleasant. We talked briefly at Carlisle last year but I'm sure you don't remember after talking to probably 100's of people.

Re: 63 Firewall Grommets - You're Right doc!

Found the old Oil Pressure line with the grommet. Two holes. Wiper harness comes off the back of the dash harness through the larger hole. All done.

        Thanks!
