F-41 replacement shock question, P/N ??

Hello All,

My '66 BB has got the F-41 suspension, the rear shocks come close to looking correct without the upper cover, large washer on top (measuring 1-5/8" dia.) and the piston rod is 5/8" dia.

They are Delco shocks with a p/n of 4940607 and are dated 2-9-94. Just what are theres shocks?

GM #4940607 are the SERVICE replacement 1963-77 HD suspension rear shocks. 4940607 is the part number on the shocks; the SERVICE part number for these shocks (as seen on the box) is GM #4940459. The last time I checked, they were still available from GM under the latter part number. Although they still appear the same as older examples, the most recent no longer have any reference to "Delco" stamped on them.

The 4940607 may actually have been used in PRODUCTION for some later C3 model years with HD suspension, too.
