    C2 Antenna Mast

    I have searched the archives to no avail but was wondering if I had an original antenna mast here for a 67 L79.

    I have attached a picture. The nice shiney one is a repro from Ecklers and the other is what I presume to be original.

    The length of the repro is 30 1/8" with a ball diameter of .267"
    The length of the other is 30 1/2" with a ball diameter of .300"
    Length is measured from the bottom of the nut to the tip of the ball.

    There are obvious differences in the top and base diameter of the conical section on the end and also the taper at the very end of the threaded section. Any opinions?

      Mike - From your pictures, the one on the right appears to be an original FM antenna (base section) as used on '67 Corvettes. Features include the groove around the lower antenna stem base section below the treaded portion and the flat cut on the top of the tapered base section where the mast fits into the base section. You'll note that the reproduction antenna has no groove around the the lower antenna section below the threaded portion and the top of tapered section is "fatter" and has a rounded edge. It is my understanding that the groove around the lower section below the threaded portion is indicative of one of the antenna manufactures. Pete

          Thanks Peter. I remember someone saying a long time ago that the differences are pretty obvious if you lay them down beside one another.
