'67 Odometer Reset Cable Knob location...

The '67 Assembly Instruction Manual shows that the odometer reset knob is attached with a nut to the pedal assembly support to the LEFT of the steering column. There is a bracket there that will accomodate the cable. However, when I mounted it there the cable is stretched very tight and the knob is in conflict with the hood release handle. There is a revision in the AIM saying the drawing was revised but it doesn't show what was revised.

The '67 owners manual states the the odometer reset knob is located at the bottom of the dash to the RIGHT of the steering column and it has a illustration showing the location. All of the vendor's catalogs also show the knob to the right of the column, except I can't see anywhere on my car to mount it. The '67 Judging Manual doesn't say where it should be located.

My question is where is the '67 odometer reset knob located or where should it go? Thanks in advance. PT

    Patrick,

Here's a pic on where mine is located, just to the right of the hood release. I would be happy to snap some pics or take some measurements if you need.

Thanks Mike, I wonder why the '67 owners manual states and shows that it is located to the right of the steering column? I'll have to see if I can move over the hood release cable knob over to the left to get some clearance, because right now they are touching each other. PT

        Patrick,
I'm surprised by Mike's photo. I'm no midyear expert, but the odometer reset cable on my '65 is located on the right side of the steering column. It is secured to a tab on the bracket that is attached to the steering column U-bolt.

        Perhaps others can comment.

          Gene, Patrick,

I took another picture and posted it here. It looks to be mounted correctly on the left side of the column.

            Gents,
As I said, I'm not an expert on the '67 but the '65 owner's manual definately shows the trip reset on the right side of the steering column.

Is it possible that the bracket that holds the reset got reversed when it was attached to the steering column mount?

            Regards,
            Gene

'65 and '67 are completely different mountings - the '67 is to the left of the column, attached through the hole in the pedal support bracket (which is different from the '65 pedal support due to the energy-absorbing steering column mounting), and the reset knob ends up VERY close to the inboard end of the hood release handle.

                Hey Mike!

Not that it matters, but my '63 has it on the right.

However, I see by your picture that you might have your headlight rollover switch mounted incorrectly on the outside of the dash. Unless they changed things somewhere along the line (always possible), the mounting tabs for this switch should be on the inside of the dash. A point here, a point there...

                    Gordon,

Just looked and it appears to be correct. The tabs have to be exposed on the outside of the instrument panel.

Oh well, they probably changed that sometime after '63 then. Out of curiousity, I checked my AIM, and on 63's, the tabs go inside the panel. Another difference to keep track of!

Rollover switch tabs are to be behind the lower cluster (not exposed) all the way through '67; look closely at the illustration in the A.I.M. and you'll see it if you follow the line through the fastener direction. Some reproduction headlight switches interfere with the correct installation of the rollover switch.
