I remember reading somewhere that early in the 1962 MY run GM switched from single belt accessory drives to dual belt accessory drives for the high HP cars. What would be correct for a 340 hp car (number 20867S103314)
Dennis is right on.
The AIM indicates there was to be a change late in the year, but it never happened. We've documented several high-HP late serial number original owner cars that never had them.
One more question... Please take a look at the attached link. How does this idler pulley play into the accessory drive layout in the 1962 340/360hp cars? What is unique about the 340/360 hp that drives the need for this idler pulley? My 340 hp car does not have one.
...anything that came on a 62 Corvette. What is unique and drives the need for this pulley is MONEY from a vendor that would like you to buy one for a car that never came with one. This issue tends to be like those that keep wanting to believe their 63 came w/KO wheels. Get a grip - it didn't happen. Best, Dennis
