On a 72 SB, is the front engine lift bracket painted orange? Does it matter if its a cast iron intake or aluminum? What colour would an LT1 be in that case?

On engines with cast iron intake manifolds, the lift brackets were painted engine color. On engines with aluminum manifolds, I believe that the brackets were generally natural steel. Many engines with aluminum manifolds actually had the manifold painted with aluminum paint. In those cases, I think that the brackets were so-painted also.In Appreciation of John Hinckley -

Joe....I happened to see a very low mileage 72 LT1 this week and the front engine lift was painted orange. So it should have been painted silver than or left natural......I thought it should be natural. I thought with an orange intake this would have been painted along with the intake, I can't image them painting the the lift orange at the engine assembly plant and installing it on aluminium manifold............Comment

FWIW, my 36000 mile, original and unmolested 72 LT1 has unpainted (natural) lift brackets. My digital camera is on loan so no photos are available, but I just went and checked it out.
