Yes, I would expect a full deduction for the presence of a Hurst shifter vs. Muncie linkage during Flight Judging because the objective is to restore the car to the configuration it left the factory in absent any dealer/owner inspired alterations. Since a Hurst shifter was never an option for Corvette, it's a hard stretch to NOT view this as anything except a dealer/owner inspired change and the rule book calls for a full deduction for such changes...
Now, as far as the 25-point deduction for the Hurst shifter as part of the Flight Judging Operations section, I don't see that as real. Why?
Well, there are 25-points associated with each line item on the Flight Score sheet in Operations and the line involved reads:
"Reverse lock-out or neutral safety switch & park brake function"
Since it's a manual transmission, mid-year car, there is no neutral safety switch, so the line item reduces to judging the operation of TWO items: (1) the reverse lock-out feature, and (2) the parking brake. That divides the available points evenly between the two items.
Since the Hurst shifter does NOT have a reverse lock-out feature (beyond moving the shifter appropriately), I'd expect a good judge to allocate 12-points to the shifter and 12-points to the parking brake function....
