Color on 59 corvette

On the back of the upper and lowwer eyebrow moldings is the color supposed to be flat black, satin black or a gloss black?

Also on the side spear blakplate, they appear to be painted black over a chrome finish, is this correct or should they be painted at all?

As I was polishing the rear bumper I noticed that one of the license plate lights was loose, the lens that is, I took it off but could not get at the lens, it appears to have three rivets to keep the bulb holder in place. Am I right or should I pry a little harder to get the bulb holder off?

Fourth edition 1958-60 NCRS Corvette Technical Information Manual and Judging Manual says on page 36, "outer grille ports" are "semi-gloss black". I can't find the reference, but the new side spear back plates I ordered from CC came semi-gloss if I remember correctly. As far as the license plate light bulb holders, they should pop-out. They are they same configuration as the bulb holders in the instrument panel. They are probably just corroded. Give them a little shot of PB Blaster or similiar lubricant. I have a '58.

Hi David,

The lens can only be replaced (or tightened by putting in a new spongy gasket by drilling out the rivits. I replaced them by tiny screws myself (I know it's cheating but know-one will know if you don't tell anyone)
