    71 Tire Tub Color?

Could someone confirm the correct color dor a 71 tire tub. The Judging manual says it is black fiber reinforced plastic. Is this correct for 70, 71 and 72 or was there a change in there to a dark grey. The on in my car appears to be the black but not sure if it is original or not. Someone told me they changed in 71 to dark grey???
    Thanks Sheldon

You're OK...Black or dark charcoal gray...same thing. You should be able to see fibers in the surface. There may also be a date tag embedded in the surface of the tub somewhere, but not all of them have the tags. It will say "Rockwell" with their aerospace logo, and will show a date. Sorry, I can't remember the date format for sure, but I believe its "week of the year - year", like 48-70.

The upper lid that bolts to the chassis is black plastic similar to heavy polyethylene.
