63 FI unit high pressure pump

I bought a spare 63 FI unit back in 68 and have had it in my basement since. Just noticed something looking at the high pressure pump (gear type). Two of the four allen head screws holding the housing together are sealed with lead in the allen head. Anyone have info on what purpose this lead has? Thanks

    Tamper tell-tale

The allen head sockets on two pump screws were filled with lead and marked with letters to be a tamper tell-tale.

In order to take the pump apart, you have to melt out the lead. That way the dealer would know if you had been playing inside the pump before bringing your Corvette in for an FI repair during warranty.
