I have conflicting info on colors of front susp. parts. Noland's big book says the front sub frame was assembled and then painted low gloss black all over while the ncrs judging manual calls for the spindles and steering parts to remain unpainted. both sources agree on bolting for sub-frame and sway bar not painted as well as shimms. who's right and wrong on this and what is more the norm? Thanks; David

Noland has it correct on this one. The little colored bits are all there, I took pictures of them on my '62, but they were under a light coat of paint. Most cleaners will take off the paint, and people think the "found something" actually all they did was remove the final stage of the assembly process for the suspension.Bill Clupper #618- Top

So Bill; The NCRS will accept that some or most of the spindle and support parts are covered with black or will you get a deduct or frowns if these parts are not unpainted as stated in the judging manual? David- Top

That may vary from year to year and team to team. I know the '61-62 manuals are being revised and I expect they will reflect what I have described. I also believe the 58-60 will come in line. You don't specify what year car you have and one of the issues we are trying to resolve is differences in what should be common explainations.Bill Clupper #618- Top
