The rear axle of my 59 Vette is currently resting on jackstands. I went to replace the driveshaft u-joints and noticed a crack around a loop on one end. Whle pressing out the u-joint on my hydraulic press, the loop split. Sooooo, I turned to Mary Jo in CA and she sent me an original used driveshaft for me to install. The driveshaft she sent me is original and matches exactly in length and diameter to the one in my 62. However, it is about 1-1/2 inches shorter in overall length and smaller in diameter than the one I took out of the 59. The tranny is a Muncie, M-20 I believe. The yoke is correct for the tranny spline and is about 4-3/4 inches in length. BUT, when the new replacement driveshaft was installed, the yoke has about 2-1/2 to 3-inches of yoke exposed. Is this OK, or do I need to find a longer yoke or have the driveshaft lengthened? Everything else about the drivetrain, except for the tranny, is original. Thanks in advance for help and advice.
