    C1: Windscreen wiper battle

I just had a battle getting my left windscreen wiper spindle removed from under the dash. The cable was stuck in the spindle. After reparing it and bending everything back I reinstalled it (with a lot of sweating). Before I did I took this picture (see below).

I now can't get the cable hooked onto the center wheel. One seem far to short, the other maybee 5mm to long. Did I put the cable back wrongly ? I did got someone to press the spindle from the outside to maximize the cable length (by pulling both cables simultanously).

Please help me out because I need to get this car judged in a month time... I hope I haven't got to remove the spindle again to correct the problem but if needed I'll sweat on it again...

greetings and thanks for your help,
    Rob.

    Rob,

I have fought with hooking up the cables more than once. I was always successful following the procedure you used. I was told another method is to allow the wiper transmission to remain lose and not fully into the cowl hole. Hook your two cables and slide the shaft through the hole and fasten. As I said, I've never had to do it this way. Are you sure your cables are locking after you push on the stem and pull them out? This process can also be accomplished by putting the transmission in a vise and lengthing the cables by pushing down on the shaft and pulling the cables as a pair.

      Rob--
How far did you disassemble the unit before you put it back together? If you did major assembly, and If you didn't re-index the spools properly with the cable attached, they will not work, no matter how much you adjust by pushing down on the shaft.

You gotta learn how to resize jpegs so thry are not larger than most computer screen. It's easy to do amd you probably already have the software and just don't realize it. If the jpeg is too wide for the screen, it also causes the word portion of the message to expand beyond the screens edges. Hard to read.

Geoffrey, Robs message fits perfect on my screen. Writing is completely visible even with the favorites bar on the left. The picture is slightly wider but the main part is right there. You probably have the screen size larger than mine ( and maybe others?).

I've got a 19 inch screen at 1152x864, and it's too big for my screen too. I believe that John Hinckley usually suggests posting pics no larger than 680 and I've found that a good guideline.

                Hi all,

Normally I resize the pictures more (this one was already resized from 3000x2000) but I thought the detail of the picture could help out here a bit... Sorry if it didn't work out for you.

BTW My screen is 1900x1200 (laptop wide screen), really useful for wide pictures ;-)

                greetings,
                Rob.
