OK, I think I know the answer from what I read on this site. If my car has been obviously re-painted will this throw out it out for Bowtie? Must you get all 4 of 4 categories? Also on the interior section the carpet has been replaced and someone touched up the cluster and the center dash with paint. The softop cloth is missing, just the frame remains. Is this too much replacement for that section(85%?). Thanks for your time.

Re: Bowtie judging stupid question.
Dick:
A team leader from the "era" of your car will look at it at a NCRS meet and evaluate it, to the point of whether there is enough originality left for the benefit of the members of NCRS and worthy of preservation for future use.
You may indeed receive 1,2,or 3 stars, however I believe you must recieive all 4 stars to qualify for bowtie status.
My particular car is original exterior, original interior, however it has a highly detailed chassis and engine bay. It would only be a 2 star status car in the bowtie category.- Top

Re: Bowtie judging stupid question.
dick has it correct. to achieve the bowtie status, all four sections must pass their sections on originality. a repainted(100%) vette won't get the exterior star.Up to 25% of the exterior can be repainted and be considered for the exterior star. a detailed engine bay won't get the mechanical star. best, mike- Top

Re: Bowtie judging stupid question.
Thanks for the response. I received the survivor award years ago for a 67 I used to own. It did not have original paint either, but survivor allows 1 out of 4 categories to fail. Bowtie is definately tougher to achieve, but more desireable. Nobody can fake one of these cars. Thanks- Top

Re: Bowtie judging stupid question.
To qualify for Star/Bowtie judging now, the car must be judged by the division team at a regional meet before the team leader signs off for the convention judigng. At that time, he will tell the number of stars for which the car may be considered.- Top
