    Big Block Cam

I have a 1966 BB convertible with Original Engine. I know the engine had been rebuilt prior to my ownership with hardened valve seats. How would I know if they had also changed the Cam without opening up the engine and looking? Also, at high revs, The belts squeel, is this just loose tension(the belts appear OK).

You can measure lobe lift at the rocker arm pushrod socket. If both inlet and exhaust are .306", it's probably an OE type L-72 cam.

Make sure belt tension is in the ballpark and the pulleys are in alignment. If these issues are okay, give the V-section portion of the belts a quick shot of silicone spray lube with the engine idling. That may help.
