    Mid-year Front Emblem Location

I'm just finishing the painstaking details of my '68 L71 restoration, and don't know the location of the front flags emblem on the nose of the car. (My car has a new front clip.) Does anyone know? I assume the best measurement would be from the "cross" of the flag poles to the front tip of the fiberglass before it dips down to form the front bumper relief.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

First off, 68s are generally not considered "mid-years". That monicker usually desribes 63-67 Corvettes. 68-72 are sometimes referred to as "chrome bumper cars", "sharks", or "C3s".

To answer your question, the front cross-flag emblem should be positioned so that the lower cross-point of the crossed flags, which is in the exact center of the emblem, should be exactly 6-1/4" above the upper portion of the bumper recess, at the point where the smooth nose of the car angles down sharply to form the recess.

      Joe,

Thanks a lot for your help! I don't know what I was thinking, calling my car a mid-year! I think I had a momentary lapse. It may be some kind of Freudian slip or something, being that for years I always desired a '65 327/365, until I came across mine.

      Thanks again!
