Shippers copy available from GM

You can request a copy of the actual shippers invoice from GM. It contains the invoice date, invoice #, date of which Corvette was shipped, suggested retail price, dealers cost, options, and dealer to whom shipped. GM has this information on microfilm. I have copies of all 4 of my cars. The bad news is it is only available from model 1977 to present. This information is available through GM Media archives.

Peggy was very helpful. At the time, the service was FREE. However, she was handling up to 350 requests per month. Therefore, GM turned it over to a third party to process. It's my understanding that there is now a fee of $50 per copy.

Below is a picture of what the shippers copy looks like for an existing car.

It's not only open to Corvettes but ANY Chevrolet vehicles.

That was a 1979 shipping document,so of coarse you can receive it. It's the ones from 1977 and earlier that your out of luck if it was American sold. If it was shipped to Canada you can receive an official document from GM Canada with all options,build date,shipping date,dealer sent to. For a cost $45. cdn.

The shippers copies are available from 1977 model year and up. Peggy said for the build month of Januray of 1977 they were loaned out to another department and were never returned. I have copies for all 4 of my 77's.
