I have an early 62, 327, 250hp car with a 3-speed. On hot days only, when I shut down I sometimes experience a vapor loc. If I open my hood immediately upon shut down I don't experience the problem. The car becomes difficult to restart. Usually it requires me to press the accelarator to floor while starting, similar to starting when flooded out. Once it starts and is allowed to idle, a hissing like noise can be heard. Local vette gurus have suggested wooden clothes pins, alum foil, velcro line covers or moving the fuel line. I really don't want to give up my stock appearance. I did check the archives but was unable to find a direct reference. I'm sure it is my computer skills holding things back. I was born in BC (before computers). Suggestions? Thanks in advance! Jon

Re: vapor loc C-1
Jon, go to 'Thursday, July 19th, Cool Fuel'. A lot of the fuel concerns we are experiencing are related to the 'new' fuel that is available today. I also have a problem with my 57 after a hot soak. I am trying different brands to see if there is any improvement.- Top

Re: vapor loc C-1
Sorry Jon, I gave you the wrong date. Go to the bottom of the page and click on page #2. The correct date is Thursday, 14 July 2005, at 6:51 a.m. I am not sure about the octane booster since you're already using 94. I have read past postings that have mentioned lead additive not having any long term benefits for the engine, since our vehicles aren't driven much. As far as it helping with any hot soak problems, I really don't know.- Top
