    C1 Vintage Looking Wheels

I currently own a correct 62 fuel car. I would like to purchase a set of wheels & tires that I could use at rally & track events. I understand that American makes a repro of the their old 5 spoke mag which sounds interesting. How wide a wheel and what type of tire would work for a street track combo. If anyone has experience in this area I would appreciate their advice.

    Hi Stuart!
I own a '63, and that's probably close enough. This spring, while tooling right along as I often do, I realized that my tires were 20 years old, and that kind of startled me. I've had the original wheels/caps on it for longer than that, and to be honest, I was ready for a change.

I bought a set of the 15 X 6 American Torque-Thrust D's and mounted up a set of 205x15 Goodrich T/A's. They are a close fit, but there is no interference whatsoever.

I am VERY pleased with my decision. I think the retro look of the D's is absolutely perfect for any car of this vintage. And so don't a lot of other people. I get more positive comments now than I ever did with the original setup.

Here's a picture of the car now. A "pre-mags" image will follow - you be the judge.

      And the "pre-mags" look

One more thing, I've gotten a TF with this car, and I feel its judging days are over - time for some fun again.

Great look! Unfortunately the tire/wheel set-up on the C1's is different but the look is the same.
