Other than placement of the clips is there any other difference the judges will be looking for regarding the difference between original and repro trim rings?

I think the lip is not the same on some repros, do you have a original? look at them side by side an you will see what I mean. -

The inner ring that holds the retaining clips in place will be flat at least through 1973. Some time after that this ring received a "lip" edge fo strength. These inner rings have been seen either painted black or natural finish. I have been told that original 1967s (6 inch rings) had the black inner rings so I can only assume that the earlier 7 and/or 8 inch were finished as such. Wouldn't really matter though as this can't be seen while installed. The "lip", however can be easily detected by the insertion of a credit card between the wheel and trim ring.Comment
